When my truck sits for a couple of days and I crank up the air or heat, it smells like an sometime ashtray.

Depends on the yr. Mines a 99 and has no motel air filter. You tin input your particular vehicle at

under filters and it will tell you which filters are used.
Couple of suggestions: place a clothes dryer sheet in one of the vents. Spray Joust or Lysoil into the air intake. Check for wetness - every bit RadioMan said. I don't smoke but do pour in some rug fresh into the ashtray - the baking soda absorbs odor. 88DakRob

Good afternoon!

I checked the Pennzoil site, and it said in that location was no cabin filter for my 88 Dakota.

Even so, there is a black cream filter over the recirc air intake (lesser between the forepart footwells). What do you phone call that if non a cabin filter? Was that an after-market add together-on (I did buy this truck used).

I'yard wondering what I could practise to supercede information technology, since information technology's starting to crumble. Would taking it out and gluing a piece of filter over the pigsty work? What kind of fabric would work best, and what should I avoid?
